General Rules

• Limit of 4 entries for one photographer.
• All content entries must have been taken within the past 3 years and must be first-time entries into the Arts in the Alley Photography Show.
• All entries must be framed, securely wired and ready to hang with an S-hook for display for the duration of the Arts in the Alley Festival.
  • Size restriction: Frame must not exceed 16" x 20". Panoramic images must not exceed 12" x 24".
• Subject matter must be family friendly. Suggestions for subject matter include: sports, landscape, sunset, flowers, animals, people/portraits, etc.
• Arts in the Alley event staff reserves the right and authority to decline entries.
• Entries are limited to ‘Photography’. Photography is the process of capturing images that begin with a camera. Minor image editing is permitted such as, cropping, dust, noise, and scratch removal, minor color and tone adjustments, white balance adjustments, exposure and contrast adjustments, Significant alterations that change the original scene are prohibited. AI generated or influenced artwork is not accepted.

Category Definitions:

Advanced: Professional photographer or serious hobbyists

Emerging: Student photographers, beginners, hobbyists, 

Mobile: Photograph must have been taken with a mobile device (i.e., cell phone, tablet, etc.) and is open to both Advanced and Emerging Photographers.

Helena McComb Award: A $500 award, awarded by the McComb family in memory of one of the Arts in the Alley co-founders, will be presented in addition to other awards in any category of the Arts in the Alley shows.

From the Photography show, one entry featuring flowers will be nominated by the Photography judges. The final decision for the Helena McComb Floral Award will be made on Sunday by the McComb family.

Judging & Pickup

Judging will take place on Friday, September 20. Experienced professionals will evaluate entries as art forms, considering creativity, composition, difficulty, and originality. The names of this year’s judges will be available at registration.
